Josh was on his way out for a string of business trips when one of his roommates asked if a friend could sleep over for a couple weeks while looking for a place to stay. Josh thought it might be a better idea for her to stay in his room instead of the couch, so before Camille had even met Josh, she found herself sleeping in his bed for two weeks. She was very thankful about sleeping on a bed; couch surfing was not doing any wonders for her back.
When Josh returned from his work trip late one night, Camille was rolling on a yoga ball, chatting with his roommates. She claimed to be an invisible cloud and Josh thought, 'she's so weird.' The next night, they sat and talked for hours. She pulled out a drawing of a plan she had to build some hanging shelves and asked Josh if he thought it was a sound idea. And Josh, being a wood worker, had a lot of questions.
After a number of serendipitous encounters and a trip to the lumber yard that somehow detoured to the beach and a museum, Josh and Camille found that spending time together was more fun than spending time apart.
Today, they live in Los Angeles, with their emotional support pup, Steele. Josh works at Mote, a carbon removal company he co-founded. And Camille works from home as an art director for Square. They enjoy going to the farmers market on the weekends and ordering breakfast pupusas, long existential conversations into the night, watching Steele do regular dog things, and supporting each other's hopes and dreams.
